Stress / Anxiety

Chronic stress and anxiety affect more and more people every day. People are turning to Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine to treat the stress that comes with life’s demands. The theory of Chinese Medicine places a strong emphasis on the interplay between the body and the emotions, the two being interdependent. When there is emotional upheaval our internal environment becomes disrupted and can lead to the physical signs of anxiety.

Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine alleviate stress by releasing endorphins in the brain that bring about a sense of euphoria while naturally relieving pain and reducing the level of cortisol in the body so stress can be better managed throughout the day. In addition to reducing the negative effects of high cortisol levels, acupuncture improves blood circulation, which decreases heart rate, lowers blood pressure, and relaxes muscles.

Stress can give rise to diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, insomnia, gastrointestinal problems, addiction, and depression. At Optimum Health Acupuncture we are committed to calming the mind and treating the body. Read more

Traditional Chinese Medicine techniques were used along with other acupuncture protocols. The conclusion specified a relative decrease in physiologic stress in the patients studied.
